Before we moved into the house we did tons of projects to get it livable. The house had been very neglected and needed some love. We repainted the whole house–inside and out, we remodeled the guest bathroom, turned one of the bedrooms into a gym, and did tons of deep cleaning. Once we had been here awhile we decided to tackle the master bathroom, which was very outdated. I came up with master bathroom remodel design and my contractor did a great job bringing my vision to life. Here’s the before:

I really loved our Sunriver bathroom remodel, but I have to say, this master bathroom remodel is my favorite. I love the big windows and the marble. You can’t see it from these pictures but there’s also a window in the shower so it looks like you’re showering in the redwoods.

After tackling most of the house (I’m still begging my husband to redo the kitchen… one day), we moved outside. This was all new to us because we’ve never had land before. Here’s what the back half of the lot looked like when we moved in.

It was overgrown but a blank slate, that I had no idea what to do with, until one day all of the sudden my head was filled with so much vision. Here are some glimpses of what it looks like now.

Looking back it almost feels unreal how much has changed in such a short amount of time. Sometimes I laugh because I have always been a city girl but now I’m a chicken mom, small scale flower farmer, with an orchard, a vegetable garden, and most of the time I have dirt under my fingernails. It’s the strangest thing.

We have worked harder than we ever have, but the fruit (literally and figuratively) we have to show from all of it, is worth it.

This summer was our second year of flowers, but I learned so much from my failures last year, that this year we had more than triple what we did last year!

I learned a lot this year too but it was fun having so many flowers to play with. I can’t even tell you how many buckets of flowers I gave away this year because I was not prepared for it! I never, in a million years, would have thought I’d be organizing and planning garden beds instead of drawers, but flowers bring so much joy to people and it has brought me unexpected fulfillment, I didn’t even know I needed.

I’ve also discovered that flowers are a great way to bring people together so, from planting parties, 1st day of school mom’s bouquet making & champagne, to last day of harvesting bring your own bucket and cut as much as you can–the flowers have given us even more reasons to gather with our friends and family, which is always a blessing.

I still have SO MUCH to learn, and have no idea what’s next but I’m incredibly grateful for this unexpected move, and season of our lives. We have learned so much about life, our marriage, our family, the importance of things like death and manure, and God’s never-ending faithfulness, through this process of building our little farmstead.

From a master bathroom remodel, to flower farming, it has been an adventure! While I’m not posting here and talking about organizing, cleaning and home remodels, it’s almost guaranteed I’m getting my hands dirty outside or organizing my spreadsheets trying to figure out what to put in next years garden, and how to fit in even more flowers!

This month BHG Live Better gave me the opportunity to freshen up my office. I haven’t done anything to my office since its original makeover a couple years ago, so I was excited to add a little texture and style to the room.

If you’ve followed me for more than 5 minutes, then you know I’m obsessed with the color teal. However over the last year I’ve been trying to incorporate more dark blues into my design, as an accent color to all the teal in my life.

When I saw this stunning, deep blue rug on Walmart.com, I knew it would be the perfect accent to go with my teal desk.

On the other side of my office I have a large desk, my husband made me years ago, where my daughter loves to sit and do her art and schoolwork.

For years, every time she’s wanted to sit there, she’s always had to drag a chair from the dining room, into the office. I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner but I finally purchased her a nice comfy chair that’s all hers.

I also did some reorganizing on my bookshelves and added in some more wire baskets to organize items on the shelves.

I love how easy it is to organize with cute baskets, I’ll never tell how unorganized the inside of the baskets might be.

It’s not a huge makeover, luckily we are done with those (at least for now) but it’s always fun to make little tweaks to a room and not have to spend a lot of money. I spend a lot of time in my office so I’m loving my little mini office refresh and all the new fun textures!

Puppy dog is loving the new, super soft rug too.

… and here’s what it looks like now…

The reason it took me long to post these pictures is because we were SO tired of doing projects, after our bathroom was completed, that we just recently got around to painting this room.

The timing of me showing you the reveal kind of worked out though because I think it’s fun to show you the “after” pictures with all the pretty touches of Christmas. Even though it’s just a bedroom, I still love bringing the coziness of Christmas in; it’s especially wonderful in the evening, when the fire is lit, the Christmas lights are on, and my husband and I can curl up on the couch with a glass of wine.

The fireplace used to be pink tile from the 80’s with gold trim, which I thoroughly enjoyed ripping out. The marble was left over from our kitchen counters last year and I think it’s the perfect touch for the fireplace surround. Someday I want to build a mantle… but maybe when I recover from all the other projects we’ve done this year. The Christmas tree is a fun touch for this time of year and if you can believe it, I got it at Walmart for only $25!

This couch is one of my favorite places in our house. Snuggling up with these cozy pillows from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart, and a glass of wine, I’ve had so many good conversations with friends, my husband and my own quiet time, reflecting on the day.

The teal dresser is also one of my favorite things in our room. It used to be in the living room at our old house but when we moved into this house I wasn’t sure what to do with it because it didn’t fit anywhere. I was so excited when we redid our bedroom and I discovered that it would fit perfectly as a night stand and I love the pop of color it adds to all the neutral colors in the room!

I also love the pop of gold from the baroque frames. Oh and now that we have finally have a “grown up” bedroom, I decided it was time for us to have matching bedside lights, don’t you just love them?

And speaking of being grown up, we finally have a headboard again. A couple years ago I sold all of our bedroom furniture because I was tired of it all being so matchy-matchy, so when I saw this headboard on Craigslist I knew it would be the perfect piece for the bed in our new bedroom! The gold foil heart pillow is fun too and coordinates nicely with the chandelier above our bed.

My two absolute most favorite things about this room though, are all the light, and the views. I love natural light so every time I walk in our room it’s like a breath of fresh air, no matter how dark of a day it is. Can you believe that corner where the windows are, used to be where the tub sat? I’m SO glad we flipped the room around and I think the best decision I made in this room was expanding the size of the windows!

I will never get tired of waking up to this view of the river and every day I’m thankful for it.

So after seeing all the pictures, would you agree with me that it’s about a 100% improvement from what it was before?

The post Master Bedroom Reveal! Before and After pictures – Finally! appeared first on Ask Anna.

Before I show you the “after” picture, let’s take one last look at what it used to look like.

Not only was the old carpet gross and nasty, but that mauve wall just about killed me! I still need to decorate the new space (I’m saving up for a large sectional couch) but by just changing out the flooring and painting the wall, I’d say it’s 100 times better already! I am SO in love with these floors, they are gorgeous!

I am so glad we chose the Gable Oak, over the other two colors we were looking at because the color is light and fresh, and the texture is beautiful, which gives the room character.

The room feels SO much bigger than it used to because of the light flooring, and now that the offensive mauve wall is gone, the room feels like it goes on forever!

There’s still a lot of work to be done down here – painting, more painting and then decorating, but we are pretty stoked about how much better it looks and now that it’s so pretty we enjoy coming down here (before I avoided it like the plague)! Even Scarlett likes playing down here now.

Aside from decorating, here’s a look at what’s left to do, I’m hoping to have this room completely ready by Fall, when summer is over and we start hanging out in the house again.

Gotta love all that pink tile, orange oak and the fact that the master bathroom was open to the bedroom, and by love it, I actually mean “hate it”. But we had a great view, the only problem was that it was taken up by this HUGE tub that didn’t work.

I know I’ve shown you all this before but it’s always fun to look back, right before you see how much it’s changed. And one last thing, here is a picture of the old layout, because it’s completely different now, and then a look at the new layout.

Okay, now we’re to the fun part! Are you ready for the master bathroom renovation reveal!?! I am so happy to welcome you to my new bathroom!!!

We have been without a nice tub for about 7 years, so I’m pretty excited about this baby!

The chandelier also dims so it’s perfect for romantic evenings, with a glass of wine, in the tub.

I’m also pretty excited about the vanity. When I was in the planning process I found a picture on Houzz.com with this vanity and loved the amount of storage it offered.

Would you believe me if I told you it’s from Costco? Crazy, right?

When I was designing this bathroom I knew I wanted the vanity to be between these windows, because I love natural light. These windows provide the perfect amount of light and most days I don’t even have to turn on the lights to put on my makeup!

And before we move on to the shower, can we just stop and check out the floors? I am so in love with them.

I searched and searched for the perfect 2″ hexagon marble tiles and I am thrilled with my choice to go with this one!

I love the pops of dark tiles, mixed in with the lighter tiles, and every day I feel like I notice something new. The floor reminds me of how incredibly creative God is, that He could make a stone so beautiful, and how blessed I am that I get to enjoy it each day.

I am also blessed by this view, that’s in my shower! I know it’s not normal to have a window in a shower but this is where the toilet used to be and there was a small window next to it, so my contractor and I thought it would be fun to make it bigger and provide a panoramic view of the hills, from the shower.

I have always wanted a tube with one of these vintage-style tub fillers. This is one of my favorite things in the bathroom.
